Mark Dreyer

Mark been making pens for the past 20 years, starting back when the exotic woods were Kingwood and a very rare piece of cocobolo put on a gold slimline. The finish was wax sticks that you would press against the wood as hard as you could and then buff out with a cotton towel.

Mark has been demoing nationally, regionally, and locally in the Chicagoland area. He recently demoed at the AAW National symposium in Atlanta (2016) and Portland (2018).

Mark is well known for his segmentated pen blanks. True works of art. Mark is know for his precise joinery and well thought out style.

Mark will also be in the hands-on room.


John Underhill

John had won many awards for his feather designs, including being judged top in his field by representatives of Pen World Magazine, Wood Turning Design and the American Assoc. of Wood turners.


Dick Sing

Dick has traveled and demonstrated for numerous symposiums, businesses, and woodturning clubs across the U.S., England, and Australia. He has taught at woodturning schools and focuses on hands-on instruction. Dick is the author of nine woodturning books and has written articles in woodworking and turning magazines. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of turning with command of technique and design.

Melanie Rollens

Melanie Rollens is a self-taught Polymer clay millefiori cane artist. She began her journey with polymer clay in 2013 making wearable art, in early 2014 she started making clay canes and it changed her direction for good. Dedicated to cane work she was seeking a way to express her creations onto finished items.

Rob Nelson

I was born, raised & now own the Nelson family farm in Winchester, Wisconsin which has been in the Nelson family for over 100 yrs. My first experience with turning wood was in high school back in the 70′s. After my beautiful wife Patti & I became empty nesters, my turning time increased to what it is today. In past years, I have been president of Wisconsin Woodturners & president of Northeast Wisconsin Woodturners & a member of the UB6 Woodturning group. I have taken advanced classes with David Ellsworth. I have given demonstrations for manywoodturning groups, mentor youth, teach classes at the Northeast Wis. Technical College inGreen Bay, at The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay in Door County & in my Studio.


Fred Wissen

Fred retired from the Navy in 2013. His wood turning hobby turned into a business after he started custom machining pen blanks out of materials like real cartridge casings and handcrafted molds to pour various resins. Fred loves to design and improve useful tools and jigs for all types of projects. His line of silicone casting molds first started by looking into how he could create his own pen blanks. Today, his business has diversified into several lines of custom pen making products and accessories. Tina assists Fred with the business duties and graphic design for the CNC and laser engraving projects. Her art background has helped create pen blanks offered out of polymer clay, metal foils, and other clear cast designs made with her fine art skills.

Rich Coers

As a former head of the MPG, Rich ran the MPG for a few years early in its existence. Rich will be demoing sharpening. Sharp tools are a must.


Greg Bonier

Greg is a member of the Chicagoland IAP where he was demoed to great reviews. Come see Greg give his take on color casting. His techniques is a must see.
